The UIA2023CPH Science Track explores the synergetic potentials of the built environment and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to contribute more effectively to the sustainable transition of our society. With the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 SDGs, sustainability has successfully been brought onto the agenda globally. However, the built environment is only briefly addressed in the formulations although the product of architecture and planning practices is responsible for 40% of annual CO2 emissions. Furthermore, how we plan and construct our built environments has enormous and complex impact on human and non-human wellbeing.
