We are surrounded by fictional universes
mostly associated with American and
Japanese transmedia franchises, from One
Piece to The Fantastic Four.
Yet the Nordic region holds a distinctive
reservoir of narrative worlds -ranging from
sagas and folk tales to Andersen and Jansson,
from Nordic Noir to interactive game worlds -
that possess profound qualities of their own.
Is it possible to define some of these qualities,
and can they inspire us to create better more
original and relevant game worlds and
narrative universes in the future?
