Form(s) of Instability; Short Stories

Beskrivelse

Lecture based upon the current research and PhD project ‘Form(s) of Instability; Demonstrations in the
Architectural Potential of Weakness’ (2017 -), investigating the potentials of weakness, formless and instability.

This presentation mainly focuses upon some examples with an embedded weakness and properties of instability,
organised as short stories:
- the kilogram
- the Oslo Opera House
- R. Serra: ‘Gutter Corner Splash: Night Shift’
- J. Beuys: ‘Fat Battery’
- Parge Coat
- building principles of Venice

Material experiments with Lime (Calcium Compounds), and Brass/graphite (photos/video)
Discussion of the philosophical notion of ‘form’ – based upon H. Bergson’s definition (1911).
